Document Summary

1 central nervous system: includes parts of the nervous system wrapped in the bone. 2 peripheral nervous system: all the other parts of the nervous system that does not include the brain and spinal chord. 4 spinal chord: attached to the brain stem, the place where information between the skin/joints/muscles and the brain occur, so incl. reflexes w/out direct signals to the brain. Divided into lobes (which all work together) and 2 hemispheres. The right hemisphere (side of the brain) controls sensations of the left part of the body. Here the right side of the hemisphere controls the right side of the body. 7 brain stem: small, most inner part of the brain. Sends information from the cerebrum to the spinal chord and cerebellum. Regulates the most vital functions breathing and body temperature. Damage to the brain stem is usually fatal. 8 frontal lobe: primary motor cortex, speech formulation, regulation of emotion.
