Document Summary

Long-term sequelae of prefrontal cortex damage acquired in early childhood (anderson, h. Frontal lobe dysfunction is a factor in developmental disorders characterized by chronic maladaptive behavior. Due to neuronal and functional plasticity, children with brain damage can very well recover from it when it comes to language and motor functions. This can not be said about social behavior and decision making when the frontal lobe has been damaged. How well someone recovers from a brain injury depends on what region is damaged. Damage in early life may affect functions in a greater way because basic competences were not learned. Prefrontal dysfunction can lead to for example acquired sociopathy. There are for example similarities in psychophysiological arousal between people with anti-social behaviour and patients with prefrontal lesions. Truck ran over head nothing concerning after she left the hospital and years after. First behavioral problems at age 3 (unaffected by punishment).
