The head of the fbi is appointed by the president for a term of 10 years in order to give that branch some autonomy. The center of a town is usually the courthouse. One size does not fit all as far as county courts go. Arrests: over 11 million arrests for non-traffic offenses. Initial appearance- defendant is read his/her rights in front of a judge. Due process model- our system is there in place & it"s important to protect the rights of the accused. Crime control model- about protecting the citizens/ innocent. Csi effect- saw it on tv, so why aren"t they doing it in the court room? : sometimes it"s hard to convince a jury of a case b/c there isn"t as much hard evidence.
