Most courts are not of record (no stenographer present) 1 of the exceptions where trial courts can hear a misdemeanor (for class c misdemeanors) new trial. County judges call for evacuation (usually in coordination w/ mayors) Statutory county courts: developed to help county courts that were too large for 1 judge to handle, judge has to be an attorney, 88 counties w/ statutory courts.
