Steps to rational decision making: define the problem: a difference between existing state and desired state, identify criteria: standards used to guide judgements and decisions, weight criteria. Relative comparison: criteria are relative to each other: generate alternatives: which are better suited then others. Satisficing: this is good enough because it meets my needs right now: evaluate each criteria, compute optimal decision. Exam big picture: criteria are important to criteria they are absolute or relative . There are lots of elements of management through history.
