The goal of intervention is to help the child learn the appropriate language skills to function effectively in everyday situations. So, because we have these therapy targets we have to shoot for, we have to manipulate the context to pullout those behaviors we need to target. When we say, (cid:498)manipulate the context,(cid:499) we are manipulating language interactions in order to achieve/elicit the appropriate language skills. What is happening in the environment (a place or situation) Nonlinguistic contexts offer a source for eliciting language. E. g. can be a place such as, fast food restaurant, home environment, classroom, party, etc. E. g. can be a situation such as, role-play, dress-up, etc: ways to manipulate the contexts, delays. Waiting for the child to initiate the interaction. In this situation, the item of interest is there, but the child must say something to get it. )f the child doesn"t speak, the slp models or prompts.
