Truffles- find in the base of an oak tree, contains 8 aeciospores. The aeciospores are located inside the lining of the cup. Fungus is giving out enzymes and absorbs all the nutrients from the tree to the cell. Asexual reproduction takes place in ascomices , asexual reproduction via naked spores (conidia) they are haploid. Called naked spores because they are not surrounded by a sac. Ascomycota life cycle- haploid, dipolid, heterokaryotic (opposite mating types) Heterokaryotic: different nuclei has to be 2 different nuclei n + n = 2n. Penicillium- the source of penicillin, produces an antibiotic. Yeasts are unicellular fungi---- feeds by absorption and cell wall is made up of kiting.
