Document Summary

As human beings, we are bound to the powerful facet of experiencing emotions. Everyday, we encounter something that directly impacts how we feel, whether it is happiness, sadness, amusement, or anxiety. As culturally diverse people, our emotions differ by our various experiences. When it comes to our ability to relate to one another, literature is a prime outlet for this process. By reading literature, one can potentially interpret and understand that of which the characters feel. The occurrences, values, and feelings are drawn from real life, making literature a direct reflection of human nature. Experiencing someone else"s journey allows the reader to feel less alone, given literature"s ability to project raw emotion garnered from the human experience. My newfound empathy toward a fictional character sparked a new appreciation of literature"s ability to recreate complex human experiences. In many instances, people often hide behind a false persona in order to find acceptance among different groups.
