Document Summary

Public policy is any action or inaction that the government takes in order to solve a problem in the public domain. When policymakers are presented with a problem they have the task of deciding whether or not to take action and determine whatever action that may be. Policies can either be very specific or very vague but whatever the case they are all conscious decisions that are made by the policy maker. Policies are both static and dynamic at all times. Simply put, this means that when policies are in place all citizens need to abide by them and if not consequences will be given. However, in some case policies may be interpreted differently and there may even be ways around them. When the policymakers are done with a policy it is given to those of a lower lever and is then left up to them to decide when the new policy should be implemented and go into effect.
