Paragraphing basics (four features)
1. A clear topic sentence

c. Is supported by evidence in paragraph

evidence. State an opinion that needs to be supported not everyone
automatically agrees.
2. Development
a. Support or evidence for your topic
b. RENNS- Reasons, examples, names, numbers, senses
c. Facts, examples, explanations
d. Quotations from experts
e. Downshifting to level 4= showing evidence not just telling about it
i. Vivid relevant descriptions-names
ii. Dialogue
iii. Relevant anecdotes- scenes in concrete description, with past
tense verbs that tells about once when something happened
3. Unity
a. All sentences relate to the topic sentence
4. Coherence
a. All sentences relate to one another
b. Build coherence by using logical order and transitions.
