It was hard to prove who did what. break a tool, or injure himself or herself or someone else. They would kill an ox, so they were not always stuck doing the same thing. It wasn"t resistance to: rebellion this was by far the least common type of resistance. Slaves would rebel against the system; commit arson, kill and maim. It was comprised of 45 vol. of natural history. Interested in formation of society, understanding of social domain, and how people understand themselves and one another: key figure was john locke he wrote the social contract. In 1750s, around 10% of americans lived in cities: cities became a little bit larger, consumerism expanded, politically, american enlightenment had the largest effect, republic/democratic thinking, basic equality among people, virtuous republic. Idea of deism not atheist; idea that god created world somehow and gave: didn"t believe in jesus christ, wasn"t a christian god, 1740s-1760s upheaval of 7 years war.
