Psychopathology is the scientific study of the origins, symptoms, and development of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Insanity is a legal term that is established by expert witnesses. Introvert are the opposite, prefers staying home, doing quiet things. Personality traits are stable, enduring qualities that people show in most situations. Traits are inferred, and are used to predict behavior in future situations. Motivation is defined as internal mechanisms which initiate, maintain, direct, and terminate behavior. The motivational process follows a sequence: need drive response goal attainment. Myelin speeds the transmission of an impulse down the axon. The action potential starts off electrically and ends chemically. The synapsis is the gap between neurons, and is the place where neurotransmitters are released, sending information from one neuron to another. A mental disorder is defined as having significant impairment in psychological functioning. The chief distinguishing feature of psychotic disorders is a loss of contact with reality.
