The whole un thought it was a problem but they need the security council to act not the general. The council comes to an agreement and sent peacekeepers to congo. Americans and soviets provide transportation and helps pay for it. In 1962 the un aids the pro-western . In 1964 most peacekeepers are drawn from congo. States don"t want their citizens to be in an army when they don"t have ultimate control. In 1965 congo becomes a mess and the un is failing stupidly. Castro; dictator of cuba; takes power in 1959; communist. In 1961 the cia comes up with a plan called bay of pigs invasion.
