Document Summary

Carboxylase or co2 fixation adds carbon to rubp to make glucose (product of photosynthesis) In oxygenase, rubp adds w o2 to eventually produce not glucose. It loses rubp and tries to take back as much as possible in one of pathways. C3 cycle bc there are 3-carbon intermediates. C3 plants = use the c3 cycle and only this cycle to do photosynthesis. All photosynthetic organism use the c3 cycle. Co2 goes down bc it"s being used. O2 goes up when it is hot and dry. Result in oxygenase when low amounts of co2 and dont produce glucose. Only uses c3 cycle to make glucose. When it"s dry, the glucose levels drop. C4 plants use c3 cycle but also use c4 pathway or c4 cycle. Changing plants to try and make it where there is always more co2 than o2 in the cells despite the weather. Sugar cane and corn - c4 plant.
