PSYC 2000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 25: Light-Independent Reactions, Endergonic Reaction, Chemiosmosis
Document Summary
Dark reaction - synthesis or light independent reactions. Chemiosmosis- power plant for light independent reactions. Endergonic reaction- need energy, or light independent reactions. Low energy product - energy - high energy products. One carbon in co2, glucose = 6 carbons - requires energy. Co2 moves in thru pores in bottom of cell. Take co2 and h2o to make glucose and uncharged carriers - nadp+ and adp. Dark reactions - do not directly require light but require atp and nadph from light. In stroma, enzymes or dissolved proteins float around, co2 is also in stroma dependent reactions. Aka carbon fixation, c3 cycle, and calvin-benson cycle (calvin cycle) Co2 is converted (fixed) into glucose (sugar) Co2 in air and dissolve in plasma of blood. Fixing = losing ability to freely move around, binding to another molecule. Reaction keeps going and will always be present. C3 - 3 carbon substances in cycle. 6 carbon thing produced falls into 2 3-carbons.
