How do we know the fate of the unattended material (hint: dichotic listening tasks): attention- the internal process people use to set priorities for mental functioning. The brain does not simply filter out what goes on in the unattended message. Rem (rapid eye movement)- lasts few minutes early on, increases during the night, heart rate increases, almost paralyzed deep sleep: beta- normal waking thought, alpha- deep relaxation, blank mind, meditation, theta- light sleep, delta- deep sleep.
