Behavioral level: decrease in pleasurable activities, moving and talking slowly, Mental level: depressed thoughts, sad feelings, ideas of suicide. Neurological/physiological level: differences among people in size and functioning of structures related to mood. Neurochemical level: differences in levels of a brain"s messengers that influence moods. Molecular level: people"s genes that are predispositioned to depression. Alternative factors naive realism- we know about us because we are people pseudoscience- paranormal explanations, ufos, false product advertising. Does a simpler explanation fit the data just as well? bandwagon fallacy- lots of people believe it, so it must be true. Not me fallacy- other people may have those biases, but not me. Ruling out rival hypotheses have important alternative explanations for the findings been. Structuralism- identify the most basic elements of psychological experience. Functionalism- understand the adaptive purposes of thought and behavior.
