Most adults have 3 central roles: worker, spouse, and parent. The median age of us women"s first marriage was 20. 6 in 1970, which rose to 23. 7 in 1988 and was 25. 3 in 2003. They used the median rather than the mean to get rid of the extremes in the data. In becoming an adult it is common to leave home, for example when going to college, you get your own apartment. Its part of psychological emancipation, where young adults increase emotional distance from parents and become closer to peers. For relation with an intimate partner to become central, such emancipation is necessary but nationally 80% of adults: relationship with parents is close. Attachment is a strong emotional bond an infant forms with its primary caregiver. Young adults who were securely attached infants emancipated easier than those insecurely attached as children. Secure attachment child will use there guardian as a secure site to make sure everything is okay.
