Background: the devil believes that job is only faithful and obeying to god because he has been blessed. So the devil asks god to let him test job to see if he truly is a man of god. So god gives control of job"s life to the devil, but job doesn"t know this. He is just tried by the devil, and still gives praise to god in his time of suffering. Babylonian exile: when the first temple of jerusalem was destroyed. People returned 2 years later, rebuilt the temple, and it lasted until the romans destroyed it. Written during 586 bce- 539 bce, added onto after. While all of this is going on, his friends are asking why do things bad such as this happen to good people? , but this gives sight to us as of why bad things happen to good people. The sin of idolatry is the biggest occurrence in their bible.
