Rihla collection of hadits on a fieldtrip. 6 collections of hadits generally accepted as the canon. 2 very rigorous (sahih): imam bukhari 9c. Isnad = chain of transmitters (this makes the hadit credible and authentic) Matn = the report itself (the significance of this is depended on the isnad) Broken isnad: matn separated from the isnad: chain of transmitters is broken. Different statuses exits from the hadits: lower higher status.
