Parents spend a lot of money on kids (housing, food, clothing, etc. ) which keeps money flowing. Suburbia - housing boom, americans wanted to live out in suburbs, young families. Don"t want to raise kids in an apartment. Grocery store isn"t as close, so people go less often but buy more (so people need carts) Gi bill - decision to reward those who helped in wwii (veterans) Helped veterans transition back to to regular life + economy. Applied to kr war & cold war vets. Diner"s club - the very first credit card, 1950. Production - make more, cost less, people will buy it. Issue: people will only buy it less (furniture, cars) Consumption - usa became a consumption based economy after wwii. Invention of television - first medium that takes its signal and beams it directly into ur head. The fcc (federal communications commission) is a govt agency to regulate broadcast. Make sure the tvs are safe (physically)
