Egypt sits to the left of the fertile crescent and sits on both sides of the nile river. The nile flows from south to north and empties into the mediterranean sea at the. Upper egypt is more south than lower egypt. Lower egypt is where civilization really started. Egyptians lived on the east of the nile and buried the dead on the west. The nile is so stable (but every year it floods - which isn"t a bad thing for the flora of the area, but is for the people and cities) Discovered in 1799 by the french when napoleon was taking over. The rosetta stone has three languages on it: demotic egyptian, hieroglyphic. We only figured out what it said in 1812 after the british conquered the french. Religion in this culture is important - there are so many temples for the gods and thousands of tombs for themselves/their after lives.
