You have to actually be in the person"s presence doing it over the phone doesn"t cut it, and certainly doing it digitally doesn"t cut it. You cannot have a connection with anonymous and emojis do not convey empathy. It has to be face-to-face and because we have a set of neurons in the back of our head called mirror neurons and these neurons are reading the facial expressions the person you"re talking to. Facial expressions on a second to second, minute to minute basis in real time. In the process we end up adopting some of those same emotions that the person we"re talking to has, and this is a process that we call empathy. Empathy is a specific driver and promoter of serotonin and without empathy you don"t promote serotonin. Psychopaths feel no empathy, they also feel no happiness they also feel no connection to other people which is why they are psychopaths.
