*** Midterm exam question similar to this: write a paragraph explaining how your comic strip
adaptation of whitehead’s novel was influenced by walker’s artistic style:
-We drew our comic strip about the scene where Cora was trying to protect Chester
from being beaten by Terrance with a cane when he accidentally spilled a drop of wine on the
carpet and then Terrance started to slash him with the cane. Cora couldn’t stand to see him
getting abused so she stood up for him to protect him and fight back against the injustice. In
this case, Cora, the enslaved African American, showed her resilience to Terrance, the white
supremacist. Our comic strip adaptation was influenced by Walker’s artistic style in the fact that
it reflects violence. It is also in black and white, a common characteristic of her artwork.
---also note how doghouse seen cora’s clothes were torn and clothing being torn is
commong characteristic. Also using stick figures so we cant differentiate white vs black or
gender. Cora asserting her dominance over ridgeway scene when she kicks him.
