Divorce rates have gone up since 1960 for both the underclass and upper-middle class. The divorce/separated rate has gone up way more for the underclass than the upper/middle class. Nonmarital (born to a mother that is not married) birth ratio over time. The nonmarital birth ratio has increased steadily since 1960 to 2010. The nonmarital birth ratio increases faster when the mother has less education. From 1960 to 2010, the lower the ses class, the lower the ratio of children living with married parents.
