If you looked in a mirror and saw a spot on your face, you would clean it off. A reasonable number of animals have passed this test, though there are many possible reasons for false negatives. Assuming we are self aware, there are also things we do that are a product of this. For instance, we think about ourselves as a person distinct from others. As we think about the self, there are some stable traits that reflect how we view the self. As a set, these can be treated as core self-evaluations. These are very related to personality traits. The likelihood of an individual to associate outcomes in life as a product of their own actions or a product of external forces.
