Order fulfillment all the activities from the time of a sales inquiry until the order is delivered to the customer: product availability, timely i. e. , fast, consistent, flexible delivery, transparent, reliable service, service recovery, efficient operations. A cross functional capability: order execution requires that decision makers in the just ticks, manufacturing, and supply all grasp and perform specific roles. An inter-organizational capability: the customer, supplier, and the logistics service provider perform critical roles, expert ties an and investment and specialized equipment make all three indispensable members of the process team. Includes processing, preparing, and shipping customer orders with all associated information flows. Product availability: items are available when and where desired by the customer: depends on many upstream activities such as supplier capacity, service provider delivery performance, and manufacturing schedules. The rule for critical items is never to run out of inventory. Other products might be highly profitable but also easily substituted.
