Argued that each stage has an exploiting class and an exploited a. said the exploiting class used religion as a justification b. referred to organized religion as an opiate of the c. argued that the exploited class would achieve class. The greek stage- a few people are free, the best and brightest, the aristocracy. The modern german stage- everyone who is a citizen is free: with his path down history, it"s a matter of making an expansion of freedom, the fuel for hegel is not materialism, like it is for marx. He believes he is the first person to uncover gods plan.
