Teleology is a reason or explanation for something in function of its end, purpose or goal. For example, a teleological explanation of why forks have prongs is that this design helps humans eat certain foods; stabbing food to help humans eat is what forks are for. Actions are not good or bad, outcomes are good or bad. The good: (intrinsic value) ( welfarism ) happiness/unhappiness l l. V (sentience) the capacity to experience pleasure and pain. An action is right if and only if it brings about at least as much net happiness as any other action the agent could have performed; otherwise it is wrong.
