Document Summary

The study of the interactions between organisms & their environments. Technological innovations have enabled humans to access almost every environment on earth. Earth"s resources affect our survival & have been greatly affected by our activities. Organismal: how organisms meet the challenges posed by their surroundings. Population: how surroundings affect population density & growth. Community: how multiple species in an area interact. Ecosystem: how all the species in area interact with the surrounding environment. Climate change: any substantial change that lasts for an extended period of decades or more. Earth"s atmosphere contains gasses that allow solar radiation in, but trap heat close to surface. Essential to warming the environment so we live at a stable temperature. Volcanic eruptions only massive eruptions that release high amounts of sulfur compounds contribute (rare events in the past 500 years) 100 times greater than volcanic emissions per year.
