Separation of church and state: not mentioned in the constitution. This doesn"t mean that schools cant have bible study clubs and stuff: no government role in promoting religion. Teacher named scopes, (test case in the supreme court) organizations were looking for someone that would put the tennessee law to the test, saying that its illegal to teach about evolution in school.
