Works in the same ways as a class, gender, or race in defining people in others eyes. Behavior expected of someone who holds a particular status. Professor- teacher, and colleague role, father-paternal and civic role, husband-domestic and marital role, researcher- fieldwork and author role. Roles connected to two or more statuses.
