Role of psychologist: analyze consciousness into basic elements, investigate relationship between elements. Stimuli must be manipulated, cannot use common words to describe, repeat observation several times. Evaluate function / purpose of consciousness rather than structure. Need to understand how conscious helps people to adapt.
