Social creatures: pillars of morality, reciprocity fairness, empathy, compassion, empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another, emotional, synchronization, consolation, evolved morality, continuity with other primates, empathy and consolation. Same variables, different mechanisms: agnew (1993): intervening mechanisms, social control, strain and differential association theory all predict that control variables are related to delinquency, but, they differ in explaining why they are related to delinquency. Intervening mechanisms: the revised model of intervening processes between social control and delinquency, social control anger/frustration association with delinquent peers delinquency. Racial discrimination and social bond theory unnever, et al. , (2009) Attacking strain theory: hirschi"s biases, he wanted to discredit strain theory, he wanted to develop a general theory of crime. Hirschi"s omission: racial discrimination significantly predicted delinquency, the effects rivaled the effects of social bond measures. Ignored by other scholars: black experiences received little theoretical attention, racial discrimination nation is often excluded from surveys, relatively small number of black scholars.
