Sentence stems to show interest in their stories and life: If you build a pause in before what you say or send you"ll feel less embarrassed and more thoughtful. If you wait for them to come to you, they often answer your questions on their own. Your own thoughts and feeling about your situations are coming to the forefront of your mind. Become involved in your own head and not listening to what your client is discussing. Second- self talk yourself out of the triggering experience. Remind yourself that you can show them empathy, not sympathy, it"s about the client. The best thing you can do is just breathe and remind yourself that it"s about the client. Find yourself a center that you can bring yourself back to. Talk with your supervisor about your triggering emotions and feelings.
