Behavioral shifts- response to risk that wasn"t originally there (this is non lethal effect of predation) Commensalism- one benefits and other is not harmed ex) moss on oak. Consume or control resource that is limited in availability. Resource= something that can be consumed by organisms dependence. Can lead to increased population growth as its availability is increased. Ex) light for plants, food, nutrients, water, space. Carrying capacity is driven by competition, that"s what causes density. Exploitation- use up resources and other organisms can"t have them. Effect characteristics like behavior and where you spend your time. Competitive exclusion- dominant competitor drives other species locally extinct. Coexistence with no change- possible especially in variable environments. Coexistence due to shift in resource use- character displacement.
