We"ve only discovered 1. 7 million species but it is estimated that there are 10 million. About 17,000 species threatened or in danger (that"s how many we evaluated- about a third) Benefits and outcomes of research o o o. These grants are reviewed by experts to see how cutting edge or how impactful will be on people and how it will benefit society. Testing ideas- experiment and get data to see if fit with hypothesis. Community analysis and feedback- publish and peer review. Peer review=when other experts review work in the same field. Check the methodology to make sure it makes sense or point out other factors. Species- group of similar organisms that can potentially mate and reproduce fertile offspring, cant reproduce with other groups. Population- group of individuals of same species living in same area. Community- assemblage of populations which occur together in space and time. Niche- can be where species lives or what it does.
