Bc you don"t need to justify existence and can live by default. If try to respect autonomy may end up undermining dignity. Cashier- same as case with terminal illness requiring family to have option to be euthanized. Them having this option makes them a target of the request that you may not want to have to face, subject to certain kinds of pressures. Dinner party not want to go to- would have been better if didn"t get invitation bc now you have to decline the invite if you don"t want to go. Declining would be an offense whereas declining having never gotten an invitation in the first place is obviously fine. An offer can also be negative because of what it expresses- ex) offering tutoring could say that this person is not smart.
