Document Summary
Final exam parsons n108, thursday dec 14, 1-3pm. Also micronutrients (mg, s, ca, fe) most from soil. Some soils are naturally higher in certain mineral elements. Depending on where crops are grown, this may have nothing to do with farmer practices, but may result in different profiles. Some soils have a higher tendency to leach than others (sandy soils leach, clay dont leach) Also possible to deplete soils of certain elements. Historically over used soils do show deficiencies and don t provide as much nutrition. We can see and taste differences in quality. Secondary metabolites (stresses to plants increase the production of certain compounds in plants) The environment in which crop is grown and whether it is exposed to certain things, this could all influence nutritional content. Sublethal herbicide doses can influence nutrient content. Total phenols and phosphorus difference from organic and conventions but most were the same.
