Patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior that are: Ex: people who stand too close during conversations. Suggests that behaviors that cause distress are abnormal. Makes people the judges of their own normality. Can be distressed about things that are not disorders. Some might not be distressed about serious psychological problems. Sees abnormality as including patterns of thought, behavior and emotion that lead to suffering and impair functioning as expected within that culture. Psychopathology is a combination and interaction of three factors. Sudden and intense fear that sex organs will recede into the body.
