When it matches an mrna, it gets cut (unable to be translated and make proteins) The result of rnai can use this to demonstrate how rnai works: rna not specific to anything, nothing changes, if you put in double strands, with one matching gfp (green florescent protein), delete gfp- no expression, larynx unaffected.
