27 views2 pages

Document Summary

Some view the west as a gift to the world. Opposite view is that western dominance is often seen as a continuation of western imperialism. Neither is true, but globalization has contributed to the progress of the world. But active agents in globalization have often been from the west. Countries resist globalization as they believe it is mainly western ideas. Issue of distribution of economic gains and losses from globalization. Ex: disparities in affluence, political, social, and economic opportunities and power. Sharing the benefits of globalization- must actually give it to the poor, not just understand that they need it. But globalization is not unfair to the poor, they also benefit. Should not just be any arrangement for sharing because that"s better than no cooperation. This arrangement should be a fair division of the benefits. Main question is not if the poor are actually getting poorer, but is this division of benefits even.
