What exactly is crowdfunding?
● In practice, its a method of fundraising that utilizes a third-party platform to solicit small
donations ($10, $50, $100, etc.) in order to support an individual, project, product,
cause, etc.
○ A digital crowdfunding platform is an intermediary between a finance-seeking
initiator and investing crowd members.
● The more than 600 crowdfunding platforms that currently exist worldwide are used by
artists, musicians, nonprofits, and businesses to raise billions of dollars, annually.
● Crowdfunding can also provide another strategy for startups or early stage companies to
roll out a new product or service.
