Biological psychology- scientific study of links between biological and psychological processes. Professions: behavioral neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, behavior geneticists, physiological psychologists, and biopsychologists. Dendrites- branch-like structures that receive information from other neurons. Axon- transmits information to other neurons, muscles, and glands. Gaps in myelin are nodes of ranvier. Sensory- detect feelings and send signals to interneurons in the spinal cord. Interneurons- brain made up of these, receive signals from sensory neurons and signal motor neurons. Motor- receive signals from interneurons and convey messages back to cause reactions. Electrical charge gathered by dendrites & cell body. Charge then travels down axon to synapse. Occurs only when electrical signal hits threshold. All or nothing reaction- electrical impulse is the same no matter how much stimulation neuron receives.
