The study of the causes and consequences of interpersonal behavior. Much of our social behavior revolves around two fundamental tasks: survival and reproduction. Behavior by two or more individuals that leads to mutual benefit. You don"t know what your partner is doing. Best scenario: rat out your partner while your partner keeps their mouth shut. Reciprocal altruism: behavior that benefits another with the expectation that those benefits will be returned in the future. Behavior whose purpose is to harm another: intentionally causing harm: opposite of altruism. Frustration-aggression principle: a principle stating that people aggress when their goals are thwarted. Group: a collection of two or more people who believe they have something in common. Prejudice & discrimination: discriminate against out group. In-group vs. out-group: goins against out-group is important for strengthening in-group. Sod: killing in the name rage against the machine. Schadenfreude: feeling good when someone else is in pain. Gluckschmerz: feeling bad when someone does well.
