A variety of companies are created to meet the need of the prison system (prison towns)- more cops, prison guards, academics to study the phenomenon, more classes about it, etc. pulls in a diverse group. Race: sentence discrimination, one cop admitted profiling cars and people (behavioral profiling, which is encouraged, and racial profiling, which is not, discrepancies between prison population and judges, police, advocates, etc. People with more money live in places with gates or doormen, and are under less police scrutiny: blue collar workers who lose their jobs because we need less manual labor, are no longer needed in society.
