November 8th 2016: gibbs creates typical model for colonial, protestant church. James gibbs, st. martin: reference to palladian form. Differs from the architecturally correct structure gibb"s creates: interior is typically georgian-palladian: barrel vaulting, columns carrying arches above, entablature zone, pastel colors, similar to the interior of a house: welcoming and warm. L"enfant altar screen, st. paul"s chapel, new york city, 1787: gold rods. In the chiswick house, mankind is less dominant. It is not consistent with the rest of the building. Robert adam, home house (1773-1776) and kenwood library (1767-69: library is very pomepii, barrel vaulted, everything in it"s place, no distortion of classic roman styles, home house has greco-roman cornice. Adam, syon house, 1760-69: very clear, stable structural system of roman architectural form. Alive with color (rich colored stones, mosaic, wall papers in uenced from pompeii): very typical roman interior. Josh wedgwood, apotheosis of homer, 1788: pastel palate.
