The torah: begins in exile (from eden) and continues with abraham called away from his native land into a history of wandering, a stranger in a strange land. The midwives: they fear god, they have quick deliveries and free of pain. The relation is covenantal: moses and god on intimate terms, the lord used to speak with moses face to face, as one speaks to another exodus 33:11. God offers to make moses a great nation . People will be destroyed, and moses will be the new" noah. The new" people will be faithful to god and moses. Moses reminds god of his duties and promises he made to abraham and isaac that god will multiply their seeds as the stars of heaven . God calls to moses as he did to abraham.
