Due to the rise of public access media. Political climate of providing an alternate tv viewpoint & critique of commercial media. On the surface they look silly and simple, however there is a deeper political purpose to them. The suburbs was an isolated place that not only kept people isolated from the outside & out of touch but kept others out (specifically minorities)
