Document Summary

Uniform circular motion- when object moves along a circular path at constant speed. Magnitude of velocity is constant, while velocity direction is changing. Change in velocity vector of object means that object is accelerating. Centripetal acceleration(ac)- acceleration experience by an object in uniform circular motion. Magnitude is directly proportional to square of object"s speed and inversely proportional to radius of path. Centripetal force (fc)- net force on the circling object that causes centripetal acceleration and acts to change object"s direction. Force acts in same direction as centripetal acceleration and is toward center of circle. To find magnitude of this force, fc =mac. Object"s speed is constant b/c there are tangential forces acting on object. Work- done whenever a force acts on an object in the direction of the object"s motion. Amount of w (work)= f( magnitude of applied force) * d (object"s displacement in direction of force)
